A significant plantation drive was conducted at Tarab Ki Pahari, organised collaboratively by the Panchnad Shodh Sansthan (Research Institute) Study Centre, Himachal Pradesh University unit, the Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, and the Tara Devi Mandir Trust. Professor Manu Sood, Coordinator of the Panchnad Shodh Sansthan in Himachal Pradesh, emphasized that environmental pollution has emerged as a critical global concern. He advocated for individual responsibility, urging every member of society to engage in extensive tree planting to promote environmental sustainability.
Approximately 300 saplings were planted on Tarab Ki Pahari, located near the Tara Devi Mandir in Shimla, under the collaborative efforts of the Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal. Esteemed participants included Professor Kulbhushan Chandel, State President of the Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, State Minister Dr. Umesh Modgil, and various distinguished individuals including Dr. Ajay Atri, Dr. Ashok Bansal, Dr. Varun, Dr. Sunil Mankotia, Dr. Nishtha, Dr. Shashikant, alongside more than 100 dedicated volunteers.
Professor Sood articulated the significance of environmental preservation, stating that it plays a vital role in mitigating air, water, and land pollution. The environment supplies essential resources such as clean air, potable water, and diverse natural habitats including grasslands, rivers, and lakes. He further noted a concerning trend of deforestation and over-construction, leading to increased incidents of floods and landslides due to development. The importance of the environment in sustaining human life cannot be overstated.
Professor Sood also urged community members to reduce their reliance on plastic in their daily activities. On this occasion, the participants from the Panchnad Shodh Sansthan and the Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal engaged in discourse about environmental conservation, collectively committing to actively contribute to environmental protection within society.
