As part of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sanghโs (RSS) centenary celebrations, the Prime Minister unveiled a specially designed commemorative postage stamp and coin, symbolising the organisationโs contributions to the nation.
Founded in 1925 in Nagpur, Maharashtra, by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the RSS was envisioned as a volunteer-based movement dedicated to promoting cultural awareness, discipline, service, and social responsibility among citizens.
โThe Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sanghโs five transformative resolutionsโself-awareness, social harmony, family enlightenment, civic discipline, and environmental consciousnessโare vital instruments that will enhance the nationโs strength, help India confront diverse challenges, and serve as foundational pillars for building a developed India by 2047โ, exclaimed the Prime Minister.
At the heart of the Sanghโs philosophy lies a deep sense of patriotism. It upholds unwavering devotion to the motherland and values such as discipline, self-restraint, courage, and valor. Each Swayamsevak dedicates themselves to the larger mission of โSarvangeena Unnatiโโthe holistic development of the nation. Over the past century, the RSS has played a significant role in diverse fields including education, healthcare, social welfare, and disaster relief. Its volunteers have consistently extended their support during natural calamities such as floods, earthquakes, and cyclones, aiding in rehabilitation and relief efforts.Through its extensive network of affiliated organisations, the RSS has also worked toward empowering youth, women, and farmers, encouraging community involvement, and strengthening grassroots initiatives. The centenary celebrations not only honour the Sanghโs remarkable journey but also highlight its enduring contribution to shaping Indiaโs cultural identity and fostering the spirit of national unity.
