The Department of Journalism & Mass Communication (CUHP) marked its 15th Foundation Day with an engaging essay writing competition themed “Ahilyabai Holkar: A Symbol of Women Power.” The event aimed to motivate students by reflecting on the life and contributions of Ahilyabai Holkar, one of India’s most renowned female leaders. Dr. Monika, assistant professor and the event coordinator, warmly welcomed everyone while highlighting Ahilyabai Holkar’s role as a prominent icon of women’s empowerment. Following this, Dr. Archna Katoch, Head of the Department, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of recognising historical figures like Ahilyabai Holkar to appreciate their enduring relevance in the modern era.
The competition drew enthusiastic participation from MA students and PhD research scholars, who showcased their creativity and analytical skills by exploring Ahilyabai Holkar’s leadership, her contributions to social welfare, and her role as a symbol of women’s empowerment.
After a rigorous evaluation process the winners were announced. The results were as follows: First Prize: Yashika Sharma, Second Prize: Parul Chauhan, Third Prize (Tie): Abhishek and Muskan
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Monika, the event coordinator. She expressed her gratitude to the participants, faculty, and the department for their collective efforts. Reflecting on the event, she said, “This competition not only celebrated the life of a remarkable woman but also encouraged students to imbibe her values of leadership, resilience, and social responsibility.”
Other faculty members, eminent professor Dr. Adityakant Sharma and Dr. Harsh Mishra, were also present.
