Speakers recall the human cost of the 1947 Partition, terming it a tragic and irreversible chapter in history
Dharamshala, 14 August 2025 — The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication today organised a panel discussion on the theme “Remembering the Horrors of Partition” to mark Partition Remembrance Day.
Paying homage to the victims and survivors of the 1947 Partition of India, participants described the day as one of the darkest episodes in the nation’s history. They reflected on the mass displacement, violence, and loss endured, stressing that the pain could never be undone. Speakers called it an irreversible mistake by the political leadership of the time, a decision that left deep and lasting scars.
The discussion saw active participation from MA students and Ph.D. research scholars, alongside distinguished faculty members. Event Coordinator Dr. Monika Chaudhary, eminent professor Prof. Adityakant Sharma, assistant professor Dr. Harsh Mishra, and Dr. Chandan Anand were present, contributing their perspectives on the historical tragedy and its relevance to contemporary society.
