Speaking to media DFO Dharamshala said, “over the past two years, we haven’t seen as many forest fire incidents being reported. This year, however, the number of forest fires has surged, primarily due to higher temperatures and also because people are intentionally setting fires to obtain grass after the rainfall.”
The majority of forest fires are caused by human activities. Instances where pine leaves ignite on their own are quite rare. Therefore, it is imperative for everyone to fulfill their responsibility in safeguarding the forests from fires. Legal measures, including filing an FIR, will be taken against anyone found intentionally setting fires in the forest, he added.
