Himachal players are making the state proud in sports – Arun Dhumal.
A state-level cricket competition held at the sports ground of Government Polytechnic Institute Badu, Hamirpur. The final match held on Sunday was inaugurated by the chief guest, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal. Hamir Hammers Cricket Club Hamirpur was the winning team in this competition.
Arun Dhumal encouraged the players from both teams that reached the final match. He commended the organizers for hosting an excellent event. While encouraging the players, he said “the youth should increase interest in sports. There are many opportunities to move forward in sports. Today, many players from Himachal are making the state proud.”
The organizers said that the competition commenced four months ago and matches were held every Sunday, spanning the four-month period.
Sixteen teams from various parts of Himachal participated in the competition. In the final match held on Sunday, Hamir Hammers Cricket Club Hamirpur batted first and scored 237 runs in the specified 20 overs. On the other hand, Kangu XI attempted to chase the target of 237 runs but could only manage 193 runs in 20 overs, losing nine wickets. Consequently, Hamir Hammers Cricket Club won the match by 44 runs. The winning team received 61,000 rupees and a trophy, while the runner-up Kangu XI was awarded 31,000 rupees and a trophy.
IPL chairman, national players Narendra Atri and Abhayveer Lovely, Youth Club president Sumit Thakur, vice president Tarun Kalia, member Ten Singh, Mohit Thakur, and Dr. Vaibhav were present at the event.
