Yesterday, Kangra Police achieved success in their ongoing campaign against drug abuse. A successful operation took place in the Ghurkadi area, where approximately 62 boxes of illegal country liquor were discovered and seized. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Joint Commissioner of Excise.

DSP Kangra, Ankit Sharma, confirmed that the illegal liquor was found at the residence of a 34-year-old man named Vishal in the village of Ghurkadi, in the Kangra district. The operation was conducted after receiving a tip-off about illegal liquor being stored in Ghurkadi.

Sanjeev Kumar, the in-charge of Kangra Police Station, led a team comprising officers from the police station and the excise department to the location. The team confiscated the 62 boxes of illegal country liquor.

DSP Sharma said, that it was suspected that the individual intended to either sell the illegal liquor at an inflated price or use it to influence voters during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“The police have registered a case and are actively pursuing investigations into the matter. The accused individual is scheduled to appear in Kangra court today, where further legal proceedings will take place”, he added.
