Vande Bharat is the new face of modernization of Indian Railways – PM Modi
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi flagged off three Vande Bharat trains via videoconferencing today. Realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Make in India’ and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the state-of-the-art Vande Bharat Express will improve connectivity on three routes: Meerut—Lucknow, Madurai—Bengaluru, and Chennai—Nagercoil. These trains will boost connectivity in Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister remarked that a new era is unfolding in India’s development, stretching from the North to the South, as the Vande Bharat trains for Madurai—Bengaluru, Chennai—Nagercoil, and Meerut—Lucknow are inaugurated today. He emphasized that the nation is making progress toward the vision of a developed Bharat through the modernization and expansion of Vande Bharat trains across the country. Highlighting the three newly inaugurated Vande Bharat trains, the Prime Minister noted that they enhance connectivity to significant cities and historical towns across India.
“Temple City Madurai is now connected with IT City Bengaluru”, PM Modi said that this would not only ease connectivity, especially during the weekends or festive period but also be very beneficial for pilgrims. The Chennai-Nagercoil route would greatly assist students, farmers, and IT workers. Shri Modi highlighted the increase in tourism in areas served by Vande Bharat trains, emphasizing that this reflects the expansion of businesses and job prospects in the region. He extended his congratulations to the community for the introduction of three new Vande Bharat trains.

He emphasized the strong demand for Vande Bharat trains in various cities and on numerous routes, noting that the introduction of high-speed trains has boosted public confidence in expanding their businesses, job opportunities, and aspirations. He stated, “Currently, there are 102 Vande Bharat rail services operating nationwide, and over 30 million people have traveled on these trains to date.” He underscored that these figures not only demonstrate the success of Vande Bharat trains but also represent the hopes and ambitions of the nation.
The event was attended virtually by Union Minister for Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Uttar Pradesh Governor Smt Anandi Ben Patel, Tamil Nadu Governor Shri R N Ravi, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath, among others.
