Prof. Rajeswar Singh Chandel receives ‘Swami Satyanand Stokes Award 2024’ for contributions to Natural Farming

Teachers Association and Central University of Himachal Pradesh honoured Prof. Rajeswar Singh Chandel Vice Chancellor, Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni with prestigious award “Swami Satyanand Stokes Award -2024” for his contribution in promotion of natural farming in the country. Award was given by Indresh ji and Shanta Kumar ji in the presence of Vice Chancellor SP Bansal.

Prof. Chandel possesses more than 25 years of expertise in the fields of education and research. Hailing from Ghumarwin in the Bilaspur district, he was born in 1967. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Master of Science in Entomology from CSK HP Krishi Vishvavidyalaya in Palampur. Subsequently, he obtained his Ph.D. in Entomology from Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry in Nauni, located in the Solan district.

Prof. Chandel has done extensive research on apple pollination in arid regions, as well as on numerous other subjects. He serves as a member of various committees within NITI Aayog, the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, and several state governments and universities across the country.

Due to Prof. Chandel’s contributions, Himachal Pradesh has made significant advancements in natural farming practices. As a result, many other states in India are beginning to adopt the Himachal model of natural farming.
