Swami Vivekananda’s Eco-Spiritual Vision Key to Saving Earth: Dr. Monika on Earth Day

Dharamshala, April 22, 2025 — On Earth Day 2025, Dr. Monika, founder of the Veer Bharat Foundation — an organisation dedicated to environmental awareness — invoked the timeless wisdom of Swami Vivekananda to highlight the urgent need for an eco-spiritual approach to environmental protection.

Speaking on Earth Day with Planet News Times, Dr. Monika, said, “Swami Vivekananda’s vision of eco-spirituality is not only philosophical but deeply practical. His teachings remind us that nature is not separate from the divine — it is sacred, interconnected, and worthy of our deepest respect.”

She emphasized that today’s environmental challenges stem not only from unsustainable development but also from a growing spiritual disconnect with nature.
“We must reconnect with nature as our mother. This reconnection is only possible by embracing the path of spirituality,” she added.

The Veer Bharat Foundation is actively working to raise awareness about eco-conscious living, traditional knowledge systems, and grassroots environmental problems. In alignment with Earth Day 2025’s global theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” the Foundation is also promoting renewable energy adoption and organizing awareness programs across rural communities in India.

Dr. Monika concluded by urging policymakers, educators, and citizens to draw inspiration from India’s spiritual heritage to effectively respond to the global environmental crisis.
